Please review the following list of service opportunities to our Catholic Education program. Let us know if you can help by calling your parish office.
NEWMAN CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT ST. MICHAEL PARISH
Cafeteria Helper: 11:15-12:15PM serve and clean.
Child Care Substitutes: 7:30AM-5:30PM care for preschool thru grade 5 students.
Coach: 5th-8th grade boys and girls basketball.
Computer Aide: assist students on the computer (will train).
Helping Hands: assist with special projects for teachers and staff.
Library Aid: file cards, books, etc.
Playground Supervision: supervision from 7:15-7:45AM or 9:45-10:00AM or 11:30-12:30PM.
Tutor: assist students with educational needs.
EASTSIDE CATHOLIC EDUCATION/FAITH FORMATION
Catholic Education Committee: Meets eight times a year to plan and promote faith formation programs for all age levels. Members and interested parishioners are welcome.
Adult Education Sub-Committee: The members of this committee serve as an advisory body in the ministry of adult faith formation. They support and assist the parish in various projects such as assessment of the current needs, the development of an adult faith formation plan, and reviewing and recommending programs.
Ecumenical Sub-Committee: This committee reaches out through varies activities to other faith traditions to develop friendships that hopefully will grow into a better understanding and respect for each others faith.
Evangelization Sub-Committee (Catholic FIRE): Meets regularly to participate in various efforts to assist inactive and returning Catholics.
Faith Formation (Religious Education)
Catechist Elementary: share faith with children (grades1-5).
Catechist Middle School: share faith with young people (grades 6-8).
Catechist High School: share faith with young adults (grades 9-10).
Substitute Catechist: leads class in absence of catechist.
Peer Ministry: young adults(grades11 and up) interested in working with younger students.
Family Event Helper: assists with the preparation of our intergenerational gatherings.
Classroom Aide: assists catechist in classroom.
Office and Program Assistant: help with Xeroxing, answering phone (basic office duties).
Sunday Preschool Teacher (St. Michael): share faith with children (ages 3-5) during the 10:30 AM Sunday Liturgy.
Vacation Bible Camp: assist in the activities of VBC during the week of July 28-Aug1, 2008.
Sacramental Preparation
Baptism Class Catechist: helps prepare parents for Baptism of their children.
First Communion/First Reconciliation Retreat Helper: helps with retreat days.
Confirmation Catechist: assist in preparing candidates for Sacrament of Confirmation.
RCIA Catechist: provide instruction for adults preparing for Baptism, and/or full communion with the church.
RCIA Sponsor: serve as a companion for adults preparing to join the church. |

YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS
Youth Open House and Gym will be held on Sunday, January 10, 1:00 pm. 8th - 12th graders are invited - bring a friend.
A BIG Thank You again for all who donated to the Giving Tree Project. Over 300 gifts and gift cards were collected. The gifts were very much appreciated.

Youth Ministry Team: adults and teens interested in helping to plan and evaluate youth ministry opportunities.
Chaperone for Middle/High School Youth Events: adults and young adults (over age of 21) interested in chaperoning for various events.
Assist with Middle/High School Service Opportunities: adults and young adults interested in helping to plan service opportunities for middle and high school.
Assist with Middle/High School Retreats: adults and young adults interested in helping to plan and/or work middle or high school retreats.
Youth Ministry: teens (grades 6-12) interested in participating in youth activities.
Young Adult Planning Team: young adults interested in planning events for individuals ages 18-35. |

Faith Formation/Sunday School
Registrations went out this week for the Sunday School Program. This is for children ages 3-5 and is open to families from both parishes. It will begin on Sunday, October 18, and takes place during the 10:30AM Mass at St. Michael. If you did not receive a registration form, they are available on our website. A big thank you to Kerry Euting who was the coordinator in the past and welcome to Gretchen Kray who is our new coordinator. If you are interested in teaching in the program, contact Lee Ann Lella--842-4283. |
