FAMILY LIFE COMMITTEE MEETING
January 3, 2012 @ 6:30 p.m
St. Michael's Gathering Space
Meeting called by: Judy Staszak
Attendance: Judy Staszak, Pam Frary, Mary Brotz, Jean Tehan

Parish Nurse/Staff:
Pam reports she is still busy visiting the sick and homebound. Parishioners are moving between home, hospital, and care facility, making visiting an evolving process. She also reported the Eastside parish mission is on January 22-24. There will be an opportunity for reconciliation. Fr. Jim Sichko will be doing the masses those days. He will give a presentation at St. Michael's in the evenings and repeat the presentation in the mornings at Resurrection.

Youth/Family Outings: Sledding is set for February 9 at Sylvan Hill. There will be a $5 per person charge with a family maximum of $20. Hot dogs will be provided, participants will be asked to bring side dishes. The committee reviewed the flyer Sara prepared. She will be getting copies made to put in the bulletins. We also discussed a table display to promote the event but decided not to pursue it.

Stewardship Campaign: Family Life will do their presentation on February 5. Pam Frary has been asked to do the presentations. We will not have a table in the back of church. Mary Brotz suggested committee members wear a flower that day and mingle with parishioners in the gathering space or back of church after Mass.

Visitor Packets for back of church/gathering space: The committee discussed creating parish information packets similar to those displayed at St. Anne's. We felt they would not generate enough interest to be worthwhile. Many visitors take a bulletin after Mass and the information in the packet is generally available on the website.

Family Life Committee Meeting

November 1, 2011 @ 6:30 p.m
St. Michael's Gathering Space
Attendance:  Judy Staszak, Sara Ryan, Mary Brotz, Jean Tehan

Agenda Items

Parish Nurse/Staff:  Pam was not at the meeting, but said in an e-mail she is very busy visiting the sick and homebound.

Council Report:  A $250 donation will be made to 40 Days for Life and the Hope Pregnancy Resource Center.   Parishioners are invited to pray in front of Family Planning on Third Ave and to volunteer at the Hope Pregnancy Resource Center. A task force was proposed to determine how best to serve Eastside Parishes parishioners.  The first issue of the newsletter, Heart Works, will be mailed in November. Parish directories will be available by the end of the year.

Youth/Family Outings:  Sledding is set for February 9 at Sylvan Hill.  There will be a $5 per person charge with a family maximum of $20.  Hot dogs will be provided, participants will be asked to bring side dishes.  Sara will create a flyer and a display for the back of church. She will discuss pulpit announcements with Fr. Bill.

Stewardship Campaign: Family Life will do their presentation on February 5.  In addition to the changes made on the stewardship form last month, we will be adding Meals Ministry for new parents.   Ministry leader handbook forms are due by January 2, 2012.  Judy will be e-mailing the form to those who need to fill them out.

Mall of America Christmas Shopping:  St. Agnes has invited the Eastside Parishes to participate in a shopping trip on November 15.  The group felt it was too late to adequately publicize the event for this year and expect good turnout.  If the opportunity presents itself next year, we would be in favor of supporting it provided more notice was given.
